“The coral reefs of South Caicos, Turks and Caicos Islands, are some of the most beautiful and diverse in the area. The School for Field Studies (SFS) has been studying this system for nearly 30 years. Yesterday, three SFS scientists visited some of the dive sites in the Admiral Cockburn Land and Sea National Park. Although the area recently experienced two devastating storms, the reefs survived and are in great condition – corals are healthy and fish plentiful. Huge thanks to the East Bay Resort for providing transportation and surface support for this visit.” ~ Heather H. – The School for Field Studies / December 3, 2017
Turks and Caicos is home to the third largest coral barrier reef in the world, earning it’s reputation as a premier Caribbean diving location. Many renowned diving enthusiasts have rated South Caicos as the top diving destination in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Excellent visibility up to 100 feet provides optimum diving conditions.
Many renown diving enthusiasts have rated Turks and Caicos as one of the top 10 diving destinations in the world. Excellent visibility up to 100 feet in some areas provides optimum diving conditions, and towering underwater sea “walls” make every trip beneath the water’s surface spectacular. Divers also appreciate the normally calm seas to transit to diving locations.
We have 3 famous diving sites situated less than a mile from our Beach; the ‘Arch’, the ‘East Bay Spur’ and a 6000 feet deep diving ‘Wall’. There are incredible varieties of coral and marine life to explore including rays, barracudas, turtles and reef sharks.
Divers will appreciate the short 5 – 10 minute boat trips to the pristine diving locations directly form the East Bay Resort’s beach. There are no expensive taxi rides or shuttles to diving shops here. No long boat trips over choppy seas.
In winter months, divers even have the opportunity to get close to migrating humpback whales that are making their way through the Caicos Passage. This is truly a scuba diving experience not to be missed! These whales and their cubs are often seen by our guests from their suite balconies.
Please, make your reservation for diving at least 48 Hours prior to arrival.
